6th gen tranny issue

I have a 2004 LS and when I am slowing for a stop light, then before coming to a complete stop, I press on the gas and when the tranny kicks back into gear it engages kinda hard. It's noticeable, kinda jerks a little bit. Anyone else have this problem?

there should be a little jerk as the rpms come up against the torque converter....but it shouldnt be a slam into gear unless you romp on it mine gives a slight tug when i am moving slowly then hit the gas.

yeah, no slamming going on, like you said, a slight tug would be a good way to describe it. So it's normal huh?

you hit the nail right on the head! I have heard increasing the tranny line pressure will alleviate this, do you know that to be true? A friend of mine has a SS and the HyperTech programmer and did away with this issue. I have a LS so the programmer won't work, but I did find a tranny interceptor on PFYC.com which is supposed to tighten up the shifts and increase the tranny line pressure. And it's only $129, a simple plug in deal.

Only $99 for a shift kit? Wow, where can I find one? What does it consist of? What does it do?

goto 3800performance.com and go under drivetrain and look at the shift kit...it consists of springs and shims which will raise line pressure....they have 3 settings mild wild and bang-screech....should only take an hour or so to put it in plus you will change the fluid and filter in the tranny while you are at it..so that takes car eof one more maintainence item

haha, so it just effects the shifting, not the issue we were talking about? My 1-2 shift is pretty pronounced under acceleration, but the rest are soft.

I don't have a problem installing the kit, it'll get me more familiar with my car as well as give me the ability to increase or decrease the pressure as I see fit. Thanks for the help man, I appreciate it. If only HyperTech would make a programmer for us 3400 guys.
