01rodeo-clock light out

Hello! Just found this board tonight. My dash clock light went out last month in my 2001 Rodeo. When I pounded on the dash it came back on. But this week it went out again and will not go back on. Anybody else have this problem? Is there an easy way to check the wires behind the dash? How would one get behind that area of the dashboard? Any advice would be welcome.

No idea about taking the dash apart on an '01 but your problem is most likely the bulb being loose in it's holder. I had a similar problem with the back light for my rear defroster switch, I replaced the bulb and it still only came on intermittently. I ended up having to bend the little metal leaf spring that the bulb comes in contact with just a little bit so that there was more pressure on the bulb contacts. That was for the teeny-tiny switch bulbs, not sure if the clock uses the same kind or not.

I checked with a dealer that thought the clock light cannot be fixed. The clock is sold as one unit and the entire unit must be replaced. Anybody know for sure

The part number for the clock bulb is 8-97329-219-0

I know this is kind of an old thread, but after seeing several posts on the boards about this subject I decided to take some pics of the clock and bulb while I had my dash apart today. The bulb is definatly replacable.

Only problem is that after messing with it now mine doesnt work It was fine before.

try to take a pencil eraser and rub over the contacts of the board, it cleans the connection

How did you get to the point of the first photo?

Remove the black trim around the gauge cluster. The first few pics in THIS POST show to location of the screws to remove it.

BTW, still havent fixed mine been too busy fixing and upgrading other things.

Just some FYI . I had the same problem with my clock and being the tinker nut I am ,I discovered that the "power " mode and the "winter" mode switches use the same or simular bulb. Another interesting fact is(after reassembling the power/winter mode switch several times) the bulbs in these units are part of the attaching points. The contacts wont stay in with out them. I used one out of this switch in my clock as the mode switch in my opinion is easier to access. I was going to keep one out for a smaple part. No dice glad to see some one post the bulb (or simular bulb as I think the color shades are sightly different) part #. now I can run right and get replacement bulbs for the mode switches. "Hey it could happen! "

I ordered blue ones, but I think I will order white ones. The blue is nice but I like my panel lit up brighter.

If they at first don't work. Turn them 180 degrees. There seems to be an orientation to the install of led replacements.
