motor swap-3.1 v-6 to older 350

i'm swapping my 3.1 with an older non emisions 350. i have a few questions before i start the job. other than the front springs, motor mounts, and exaust are their any other things i should be looking for?
i'm gonna need all new gauges as my car is a 90 with electronic cluster.
i'm keeping it non emissions. non computer, carberated. i have the chip key for the ignition. do i need to change that or will it still work even though i'm pretty much killing the ecm? i'm also swapping the trans too.not sure what it is th350 or 400. i havn't gotten the donor car yet.
its an 86 monte carlo but its not the stock motor

any and all help/advise would
be greatly appreciated,
\ mike.

Re: motor swap-3.1 v-6 to older 350

that's a lot of f*cking work! I'm doing the 3.1-350 swap right now... just finish actually. i'm working out bugs right now.

I just left the computer in there and used sensors off the 3.1 for the oil pressure, coolant temp, speed, tach, and voltage. it works fine, except the coolant temp is not registering for some reason. i haven't investigated yet. maybe the relay.

anyway... the drive shaft will not work (90% sure), speed sensor will not work (like mine), i don't know about the ignition key (cause mine still works with the computer, but i don't know if it has to interact with the comp.). You need new alternator and starter. i welded my motor mounts in.
also keep in mind, it will be hard to get you car to pass inspections if your state has smog testing.

lastly, you're gonna need to put a switch on your fuel pump to turn it on and use a fuel pressure regulator with return line, or buy a new one (for carb) and mount it on the block.

good luck.
