Second Row Bench to Buckets

We have a 2000 New Body Style that had a second row bench. We just purchased a set of buckets from a 2001.

The colors were a match, and the passenger side bolted right up. The drivers side needed a little modification. We had to drill a small hole in the back inside bracket for a small bolt beside the large seat mounting bolt.

The drivers side was missing the outside plastic trim part, I was able to fit the bench trim part to the bucket seat with no modification.

The new (to us) seats were missing some of the plastic trim parts covering the bolts and frame on the inside (between the seats) so off to my GM dealer and they ordered the new part for us. We should see them in a week or less.

To make sure the colors and parts fit we ordered parts for a 2001. The person who I bought the seats from gave me a build sheet with VIN for his suburban so I could find the matching colors. This proved to be helpful at the dealership.

Hope this info helps someone...

Yes, I have some pictures, will try to post them. Sorry for the long time to reply, we just finished a long trip with the suburban. The seats worked great. If you do not need the extra seat the buckets are nice.
Just tried to upload the picture, no luck. They look just as it would of looked if they had come from the factory. I am happy with the change.

Thinking of doing the same thing.

Where did you find the set of buckets?

Thanks,

Mark

I got lucky and met someone who had some. We have a several local salvage yards that get them in from time to time. I have even found a company that will recover them if needed and a company that will make custom covers (leatherseats.com). Sometimes you can find takeoff covers on e-bay too.
I also was watching E-Bay for sometime.
All trim parts have now been installed and they look factory.
