I have recently purchased a 2005 Liberty and was wondering how one goes about disabling the odometer. Is it a body control replacement, an instrument cluster replacement, or is it a matter of disconnecting the speed sensor at the rear differential? Any insight would be great.
Thanks.

Re: How to disable odometer from reading mileage.

bad idea
That's a pretty crazy idea. Its ilegal just about every where, it will kill your waranty, and seems pretty shady. If I am not mistaken, it's not only a matter of street legal, but all around ilegal.

Re: How to disable odometer from reading mileage.
You can disconnect it, but it will disable the speedometer and cluster. So just install an aftermarket speedo, or use a GPS unit. When I was exporting trucks to the USA from Canada before the car companies caught on, we swapped out the km/h guages to miles. It was easy enough to do. For the liberty I would get a manual, just disconnect the whole dash, it has wires going to it with a connector.

Re: How to disable odometer from reading mileage.
Sometimes, you can just pull a fuse. My '99 Voyager minivan (leased) had the odometer and cruise control on one fuse.
I just pulled that fuse and away I went. Everything else worked fine, as far as I knew. |
