Unhappy problems starting.....stumble on accleration

hey guy im new to imports and have a 99 eclipse fwd non turbo 2.0 liter.
now that thats out of the way i need some help....... im having probs. with my car starting. Sometimes it just wont start, whent finally starts it revs to about 2500 rpm for about 2 sec. then idles down .....i put new plugwires and plugs in it when it flashed a missfire code fore cyl. 3. this fixed the prob for a while but its doing it again. 2nd prob is when its not doing that it seems to have a stumble on acceleration ( like it stops firing for a sec.) . its very slight just as you touch the acclelerator pedal then it stops as you pass this point.
other than the oil leak the car runs great.

any help would be greatly apreciated.

Re: problems starting.....stumble on accleration

Just FYI... eclipses, talons, lazers are NOT imports... they are made in the USA... in japan an eclipse would be an import to them....
Sorry I have no help as to your misfire/stumble problem....

Re: Re: problems starting.....stumble on accleration

Does the acceleration stumbling occur just when you press down the bedal in the beginning even when the car is warmed up or after a few accelerations?? Mine ALWAYS barely goes when I shift into first and put the gas down...it does nothig but bog...but after a few seconds the bogging goes away. Is that how yours is or does it always bog when you accelerate?

Re: problems starting.....stumble on accleration

it does it whenever it wants....warm , cold, it dosent matter. it just does it when you start off from a stoplight etc. i had a leaky upper rad hose on the engine end and it leaked on 2 sensors right below it. these 2 sensors coroded up pretty bad, one is so bad i cant get the conector to come off the sensor. could this be a possable prob. ??

spyderman...........sorry if i insulted you or anyone else by calling it an import......i know its an american product......im a chevy truck guy at heart and it came out wrong while typing

again any info on this be apreciated

Re: problems starting.....stumble on accleration

If I were you I would fix the sensors soon even if they aren't causing the problem. Also, my car runs really slow in take off when it is cold, but diagnostics says it is the MAF sensor so I am ordering one from ebay. Those things are around 500 new!
