Hard to see out of?
I might be buying a 3kgt off ebay, or farther away. I am going to try to sit in a 3kgt before that, but I am wondering if anyone can say if they are hard to see out of. I am about 5'6", not really that tall, and would like to know the visibility, such as if I would sit to low to see over the steering wheel.
Thanks |

Re: Hard to see out of?
Well I'm approximately 5'7" and I can see easily out of the car, even though it feels as though you are sitting on the floor. Click on the link in my sig for the videos in my car, and click on "Takeoff 2". That is my old roommate taping from the inside of the car looking forward as I take off. As you can see, it's very easy to see out of the car.
If you get a 3kgt, I'll be very happy for you, because I absolutely love my car and I'm sure you will love the car as well. Word of advice, read the FAQ posted on these forums about the 3KGT, it answers alot of questions and helps you with maintaining your vehicle to the fullest. With that being said, welcome to the forums!

Re: Hard to see out of?
Thanks alot! Right now I am just wishing for a 3kgt, I can get my liscene in 1 month, and a 3kgt would be awsome. It would either be a base or an sl, and right now I am looking for a good deal. I'm watching this auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MakeTrack=true That car could be it! |

Word of advice: Always make sure you have backup money if you drive a 3/S
And if you can do repairs yourself you are way better off! You'll love the car though, but they can be frustrating at times.. |

Re: Hard to see out of?
Thats not good stuff to hear especially for me
![]() I am hoping my dad and I will be able to do most stuff (like the 60k mile tuneup, the car on ebay will need it in 9k miles. I would love one of these cars, but not if it is going to cost an arm and a leg. I assume the base or sl model that I can afford will have less problems than a vr4. so I am going to pretend the sl and base are reliable... right? |

The base and SL are more reliable than a VR4. It will be even more reliable if you do not mod it much and will also depend a lot on how the previous owners treated it.
I drive a base as my daily driver (working on a RT/TT for the fun car) and unfortunately, the previous owner treated it like shit. I got it cheap though ($2750) so all in all it hasn't been too bad. Preventative maintenance is to key to these cars imho. If you treat it decently and do the maintenances it should treat you good back. And I believe you are definitely doing the right thing about not going for a VR4 as the first and only car. My plan when I get the RT/TT is to at least have $1K to drop into repairs at any given time after it gets modded. |

My best bet would be to try to find one to sit in, but that may be hard to do. I am alittle nervous about maybe buying a car on ebay without even trying it out, or another of its model out. |

Re: Hard to see out of?
my 94 SL has a 10-way adjustable seat (lumbar in/out, side supports in/out, rear up/dn, front up/dn, fwd, backwards) plus memory...if it's got leather its got it, if not then idk.

Re: Hard to see out of?
This one is the base model with out leather.
Also, this is fairly important to me: As someone mentioned you can save alot of money doing repairs/tune-ups by yourself. I was wondering how hard these are to perform. With little experience in cars, is it possible to do the 60k mile tune-up by yourself, also, how hard is it to replace synchros? I looked at the guides in the faq, and I cannot tell if my dad and I would be able to do them. I will ask my dad if he thinks we can do them, but I would like to know how hard you guys think it is. Could we pretty much figure it out from the online guides? Thanks |

Re: Hard to see out of?
Well if your dad has ever dropped a tranny or changed a timing belt...then yes, he can handle those 2 repairs. What I have found is upon owning one of these cars, your mechanical ability improves dramatically. I've done things I had never done before. With the help of so many other members and great websites with illustrated guides on pretty much every repair, it really helps you start doing more and more on your own.
Your courage and mechanical know-how grow as you do more and more work on your car and become familiar with more and more of it's parts and systems. Anyway, I guess I'm saying, those 2 jobs in themselves aren't the easiest. I don't know if I'd drop a tranny on my own, but I plan on doing my own 60k tuneup. If I were you, I'd honestly be more worried about getting a good condition car from Ebay and not getting scammed, rather than the difficulty of future projects, and/or visibility. I'm not trying to be mean, that is just what my first concern was when I searched for mine on the internet. And as for visibility. I can tell you it is better than plenty of cars, including the newer TransAms and Vettes.

Re: Hard to see out of?
Ok, thanks for your help. I believe I will probally be able to handle the 60k.
The ebay car looks pretty good, and the dealer has 40 positive feedback, 0 negative. I talked to them alittle on the phone, and I do not think I will get scamed, its just the fact I wouldn't have seen the car before I buy it. I might pay $100 for the 150 point checkup, but then I would want to bid and win so I don't waste 100$. What is the max you would pay for this car: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MakeTrack=true The blue book value is $4,900 |

Re: Hard to see out of?
I honestly can't say what I would pay for it:
1) I have no interest in an auto base 2) My financial situation is different than yours. I mean I can understand you wanting other opinions, but that is hard to give, because I really don't know. It depends how much you want that car, and what other options you have. I know I would save $500 for parts for the tuneup. so maybe $4,500. But it really depends on you. Best of luck.
