Question 1995 SL Clutch Pedal

1995 SL manual Transmission 134 000. I began to notice that in the morning as I start my day the clutch pedals is smooth and quiet, however by the afternoon the clutch pedal feels rough and there is a loud squeak every time I press down on it. I've checked the transmission fluid and it is fine. any ideas?? Many thanks in Advance for the help in solving this problem.

Tacuvito.

Re: 1995 SL Clutch Pedal

mine used to squeak every time it rained. start by lubracating the two little clips underneth the dash that the clutch pedal pivots on.

What kind of lubricant is standard for this?

I used silicone spray with little effect, Never really squeaked much though

Re: 1995 SL Clutch Pedal

I also used the sylicone spray on the clutch pedal. The stuff is great, although it did very little to improve this problem. I will continue to use it over WD-40 although I will miss that WD-40 aroma.

Re: 1995 SL Clutch Pedal

WD-40 is not a lubracent, i used 3-in-1, worked great on the first time.

tac, is the noise coming from inside or outside the cabin?

It says on the back

LUBRICATES
Such metal parts as: ...

3 in 1 is very similar, they're both multi-purpose household oils...

so it does... well there is stuff that works alot better. lubricating is not what WD-40 was designed for. WD-40 stand for water displacer - 40th attempt. its was designed to protect rockets and missiles from rust and corrosion.

Re: 1995 SL Clutch Pedal

Sierra, sorry for just responding to your post. After a closer look, the noise is both inside and outside of the cabin. I repeat, the noise increases gradually as the car is used through the day. In the morning there is no noise and the pedal feels smooth. By the afternoon, the pedal squeaks and the travel is rough everytime it is engaged.
Thank you.

Tacuvito.

Re: 1995 SL Clutch Pedal

you might want to check the area where the rod goes thru the firewall.

check the clutch fluid(its hidden next to and under the brake master cylinder) check level and color, color is the biggie.anything other then a yellowish/light brown is bad, the darker the worse.

if that doesn't lead to anything get a freind to work the pedal while you listen under the hood, see if the sound is coming from the master cylinder, slave cylinder, or bellhousing.
