Radiator reservior tank

The white tube that comes out of the radiator reservior tank has had battery acid leak on it and has eaten through the white hard tube. I had to replace the rubber hose at the end of the tube as well. (95 Camaro). Is there a generic hard plastic tubing I can buy without having to buy the entire reservior tank? I am not sure of where to get similar tubing because I know nothing about the tank, pressure, heat, seal, etc. I am losing water from my radiator because it is not making it into the reservior, nor filling up from the reservior. I need to replace that tube. I have been unsuccessful with salvage yards. Help please. Thanks in advance.

i don't know specifically what the "The white tube that comes out of the radiator reservior" is on your '95, but if its a hard plastic tube the only place your going to find that is at a dealership or the bone-yard.

However, I don't see any reason why you couldn't replace it with a length of bulk heater/coolant hose ($1/foot) that you should be able to find at almost any autoparts store.

I thought about trying to use radiator hose, but the white hard tubing actually has to be pressed down into the tank. The hose is to flemsy. I don't know if the shape (which is L-shape_ bears any significance to the overflow process. I'm just not sure what will work. Thanks.

As the coolant heats up it expands and the pressure this creates forces some of the coolant into the resevoir, so the shape of the hose should't be too significant.

Can you salvage the part of the white tubing that is being pressed into the tank? If so, you could slip some rubber hose over it, and clamp it on either side. It won't look real pretty, but its a cheap fix. The only concern I would have is what you describe as the L-shape. If the hose makes a 90 degree bend, you have to be careful that the rubber hose does not kink during a sharp bend. If the tubing is complete crap, again your probably stuck at the dealer or a junk yard.

Thanks, I'll try that, I never thought about using the part that would fit snug in the reservior then using the hose. Great! I'll let you know how it turns out.
