where is the OBD2 port on a 2001 focus ?

The OBD2 DLC is about 3 inches to the left of the hood release.

well a friend of mine took his 01 focus to autozone and they ran codes on it ... came back with P0171... car surges badly and barely gets over 35mph... i am predicting bad MAF sensor ?

Could be a bunch of things...just look up the code, and you should be set.

The code means "system too lean - bank 1"
My car did this 2 weeks ago, started surging, and had a pending code P0171. I have an Actron code scanner and had it with me, so I hooked it up and noticed 02 sensor readings were inconsistent and fuel trim readings were very high - 2 days earlier I had a code for "upstream oxygen sensor slow to respond" also. I replaced the upstream oxygen sensor and the spark plugs and everything's been ok for 2 week's. Mine's a 2001 LX model with the SPI engine. I have 137,000 miles - was due for an oxygen sensor anyway. |
