Help Removing Door Panels - 97 T-Bird
Hello,
I am about to install new speakers into my 97 T-Bird, but first I need help as to how to safely remove the door panels. I would rather not figure it out myself for fear of breaking something. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

Re: Help Removing Door Panels - 97 T-Bird
Carefully pry the finish panel (piece that has window switches in it) away from the door panel starting at the front and working back. There are two clips along the front, two along the top, one on the bottom and one on the back where it comes to a point at the door handle. To get this back one out try sliding the panel forward to release it. There is a screw behind this finish panel that hold the door panel to the door. Remove this screw. Next remove the door panel interior light lens cover and remove the screw inside that holds the door panel to the door. Then slide the door panel up to disengage the hooks that hold it in place. Move the top of the panel towards you and lift the bottom hooks from the door. Be sure to remove the ground cable from the battery before starting this job. You may have to disconnect the wiring harness from all of the switches to get the panel away from the door far enough to replace the speakers.
