Question Tamiya paints and lacquer?

Hi to everyone (sorry for my english)

I am from Mexico and here is very difficult (and expensive) to find materials, paints and other things related with car modeling.

I always use automotive lacquer (color and clearcot) to paint my models (is cheap and have good finish), but i cant find a metallic blue similar to the one used for the subaru impreza wrc, so my question is, is posibble to use tamiya mica blue (spray bottle) and then lacquer for the clear finish or is necesary to use the tamiya clearcoat, in this case, I need the tamiya compound to polish or i can do it with automotive wax.

I hope you guys can uderstand my bad english and someone can answer this questions

thx

Agreed, it should work out fine. Do you have any large chains of automotive stores there? If so you can probably work with Dupli-color as well (that is, Dupli-color paint and Dupli-color clear as needed,) rather than hunting around for hobby stores.

Your english isn't bad at all man, better than some other posters around here

Re: Tamiya paints and lacquer?

I just used Tamiya Mica Blue on a model I am working on. After about 12 hours of drying time, I used about 6 -7 coats of dupli color clear over top of it. It came out great! I was able to rub it out in less then 3 days of drying. I also had no problems with the clear burning the edges, like I`ve had with the Tamiya clear.
