Window Problem
I have a 94 Metro that has a problem with the drivers side window. It cranks down fine on the front side of the window but the back goes down at different rate so the window gets skewed as it goes down. After I open the window (or close it) I have to manually force down (or up) the side that isn't the same height as the other side with my hands. Before this happened it was getting really hard to crank also. It is a manual crank window. What do I need to do in order to fix it?

Man they are the biggest piece of dump in the world, just to give you a hint on how bad they are our spare car a 1993 Metros windows got so hard to roll up that parts broke in the drivers side, and the window had to has to be physicaly pushed and rocked into place once rolled up, I even glued the glass into the clamp type holder inside the door.
In 96 I was at a old junk yard with only military stuff, the guys name was clapper hes past away now but in 96 I was in his over grown junk yard (it was like we were in some battle zone grown over with trees and brush from WW2) and I found a 6x6, and the window rolled up and down just fine, and this thing was made in the 40s and had been sitting outside it's whole life and from the 60s it sat with a missing canves roof, but the 1993 Geo window failed 9 years after being made. We have lost our ability to make American made tuff stuff. We need to get it back! |

your metro was built in canada probably and parts made in japan

I had the same problem with my 91. You need to take the door panel off and check the weather stripping on both rails (left and right) Mine was missing on one side. I went to a junk yard and pulled a piece off another car. Took the rail off, cleaned and glued the weather stripping into place and all is well now. Also clean and lube the rubber strips with silicone.

I had all mine in place but it still go very hard to roll up, I replaced the on the outside because it peeled and it seemed to help, but I had to get a razor and cut/trim the window seal at the front, front meaning tward the wind shield, it will lip over, triming it help alot, so I trimed alot more and it helped more, also the outside molding, it helps to put some glue on the plastic snaps, some like Blue RTV so that it can come back off when you want it to.
Word to the wise, the pull arm to spray the windshield broke at the base, it would be a great idea to reinforce this area with epoxy, because to replace it you need to take off the wheel, and take everything just about all the stuff out of the steering coulm. Its very bad not to have squarters |
