200r4

i was wondering if a 2004r tranny out of a monte carlo ss handle 300hp.
i have a 87 carlo and it has a th350 and my rear end ratio is 4.56. i need an overdrive bad cause i cant even go on the highway because my car revvs at 4500 rpm when i am going 55. and i want to keep the rear end gears cause they are really quick.

thanks

No,it will not.The 2004r was a piece of junk when it came out.Go with a 7004r instead, it does have overdrive and it is a whole lot better than the 2004r
