Fuel Filter + tuneups

I have a 1994 Dodge Ram 1500, 5.9 liter that I picked up. I'm eager to learn but don't have to much experience about working on vehicles. I can successfully change the oil, spark plugs, and minor stuff.

The truck I've got has 177k miles on it. I'm sure a tuneup can't hurt - even if it's been done after 100k miles.

I've been trying to find documentation on how to change the fuel filter. The only thing (online) that I've found is this: http://dodgeram.org/tech/dsl/filter/...uel_filter.htm however it's for a 12 valve diesel. Is the process still about the same? If not, would anyone have a good site to visit that has step by step instructions? Are the Chilton books decent for this model year?

Also, another sub note on this truck...apparently the truck likes to die when it's getting turned around or barely moving. I know the description of the problem isn't that good and could be alot of things. Tomorrow I should pick it up and drive it and hopefully be able to give a better description of the problem. The guy said he had a mechanic look at it and the part was $150 or something close...

Re: Fuel Filter + tuneups

Pick up the Haynes manual. Its in my opinion better than the chilton and it will tell you step by step everything you need for the fuel filter and soooo much more...

I have a 2001 dodge ram quad cab 4WD. The factory service manual states that there is no inline fuel filter. On my truck the fuel filter is either internal to the fuel tank or built into the fuel pump. I don't have my factory service manual CD handy but I do know that the fuel filter requires no maintenance like other trucks.

Good luck
Bob
