goodbye dear Si transmission... (#5)

so... the inevitable happened... transmissions toast
coming around a corner off the highway onto a main road, (which is a bridge going over the highway) in 1st gear from a stop, come around and put the gas about 1/2 - 3/4 the way down to get up the hill, (note... no dumping of the clutch, just easing it out) so as it gets upto 3 grand i hear *PING* and the shifter pops out to neutral and then waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa 7 grand, i'm like fuck me, trannys fucked, put it in 2nd to be sure and YEP! nothing, so i stop in the turning lane, call CAA and get it towed (i'm on a 1st name basis with the driver by now) so yea, theres my lovely story, but i knew it was gonna happen, day after day it kept getting worse, it would grind 2nd and 3rd, then a week ago it starting grinding 1st REALLY Badly, then tonight as i get off the highway and start going it pops on me

so heres the count...
1st tranny - 89 DX - cause of death.. Bad tranny... How it blew... putting it into reverse to back out of a driveway

2nd tranny - 89 DX - cause of death.. Burnouts ... how it blew... dumped the clutch off a stop sign

3rd tranny - 90 DX - cause of death... burnouts ... how it blew... passing a teg, dropped it to 2nd from 3rd at 60km/h

4th tranny - 88 DX - Cause of death... hammering it and burnouts... how it blew... coming around a left corner in 1st slowly and went to shift to 2nd

5th tranny - 90 SI - cause of death... too many burnouts, too many hard launches and weak from the start, was sitting for awhile and grinded right away from the start... how it blew... turning left again shifting from 1st to 2nd going easy...

note to self... stop turning left.. stop shifting from 1st to 2nd.. and for the love of god.. stop doing burnouts and racing!!!!!!

Your a fucktard. Your not making enough power the brake that many trannys unless you cant drive worth a shit, and even thats pushing it. ZC - if they dont kill themselves they taint the rest of the car.

Re: goodbye dear Si transmission... (#5)

Yeah man, you need to learn to drive and respect your car. After the 3rd tranny broke you should have learned your lesson (I say 3rd because obviously a bad tranny is not your fault). And as soon as 2nd and 3rd started to grind, you should have bought a new one or got it rebuilt immediately. I pray for your wallet that you finally learn your lesson (though I'm doubting it).

one for my ZC that wont eat another stupid differential
i'm thinkin about getting a quaife or OBX like Kun did, the OBX seems good for 400 bucks CND and i know someone who can get me one too so i might get my Si trans rebuilt with new synchros since the ones in there are chewed to shit. and just run a wimpy DX trans for awhile, who cares if i lack top end for awhile, once i get LSD... no more tire spin

Re: goodbye dear Si transmission... (#5)

I say pull the Si and teach your self to rebuild one. Thats my plan whenever I get my other tranny out. My cousin learned how to do it, said it's easy just a little time consuming.

Re: goodbye dear Si transmission... (#5)

We thought you'd learn your lesson a little before now... Tear that bad boy apart and fix it yourself. Don't spend the money for someone else to fix your mistakes. Besides, you could save a little money and add it to your 'paint Derek's Car' fund. :P

Don't tell him he needs a girlfriend. If he did have one, he'd probably beat on her.

You obviously either have been getting some crappy trannies or you suck at driving. I may not be the best at doing burnouts but I can drive... only gone through one si tranny and it had 180k? on it. GL with whatever you decide to do...

Re: goodbye dear Si transmission... (#5)

Wow Derek, I suppose it was kinda funny that four DX trannies took a dive, but now an Si tranny has fallen victim. You sound like your on the right track now, please resist the urge to do burnouts and drive all crazy! Your car and your wallet will thank you. GL
