Fuel system troubleshooting walkthrough

duders -
she wants to turn over, she's dieing to turn over but she just can't. that reasuring fule pump whine is gone. where do i start? relay? fule pump replacement? give me a few checks before i start taking the gas out of my tank.

update -
just now i went out to try and start it for yucks and it fired right up. now i'm confused.

also i am aware how to spell fuel.

Turn your key almost all the way i think its 3 clicks, 4th starts the car......Anyhoo if you dont hear any 2 second winding sound (your fuel pump) then that is what it is, replace the bastard and your car will start.

You might want to check Fuel pump relay, yes. Check fuse pannel under hood. Look in your manual for location.

If it starts after the engine bay cools down it might be a heat related problem with the relay

If your thinking its something with the fuel.....try doing a fuel pressure test, that way you know if the pump is sending fuel.

A friend of mine had the same problem in his mustang, the fuel pump was real loud then it just quit one day. We hauled it home and dropped the tank to check all the connections we hot wired the pump to a battery it worked so we put it back in it fired up but soon died. It ended up being the fuel pump.
