new gtr article

ok i just got my autoweek magizine and there is a small article on the new GTR here is the small artical quote "Meanwhile he car Nissan chief Carlos Ghosn has promised in time for the 2007 Tokyo motor show-the Skyline GT-R - appears to be running through its paces in the form of a super-powered, special-bodied Infiniti G35 Coupe. The all-wheel-drive Skyline will be powered by a 450-hp. twin-turbocharged V6 engine, with suspension tuned by Lotus engineers." the article sounds like the skyline is no joke or rumor. i think it is the real thing.

That appears to be the word. I also hear that the engine will also be built by cosworth. Nissan should aim a little higher on the power numbers, because the next gen supra will be higher than 450...

they played with the ideas of sending it to cosworth, due to the great work they did on the z-tune.....but nissan engineers really know how to build an engine.

second... as per the next gen supra....the things going to be running a v12 and will be more than a hundred grand. it better run more than 450 horses.

The next gen "Supra," which they have test car shots that everyone has seen in Autoweek:
http://www.autoweek.com/news.cms?newsId=101005

Is no longer a Toyota or a Supra. It's now a supercar that will be sold by Lexus.

Take a look: http://lexus.jp/

Click on Models, then Concept Cars and then choose it's Concept badge name, LF-A

Compare the first shot in the gallery to the test car shot.

Additionally, I don't think the GTR has to worry about HP, not if they stick with the affordable pricing compared to $100K Lexus wants!
Also, we're talking about a V12 "super car" with 500 hp and trying to compare it to a V6 with 450hp! Something tells me that the Lexus "Supra" better do a lot more amazing things to justify that pricing.

i forgot to mention its going to be a lexus . IMO, i think the next supra is trying be on par with ferrari or lambo or other italian exotics, not only in the styling, but using a NA large displacement engine. i think thats why the price has been bumped up. from rumors surrouding the upcomming infiniti GT-R release, ive been hearing its going to be in the more affordable $60k range. i say more affordable....compared to the next supra, and the current pricing on r34 GT-R's. I do think that the infiniti is going to be far superior to the lexus, with the more advanced active AWD systems ive been hearing about (an evolved attessa?), and the twin electronically assisted turbo's. this car should be a hobbiest/enthusiests dream car. only problem i see is that, with the appreciative pricing already starting to take place on the r32's, i think its going to take a while for the GT-R to really drop down in the price were it would be more readily available for the market for which this car is going for.

i just hope the new GTR is tuneable like the current GTR's. I like the fact that you can take a stock GTR from 280HP (~320HP) to well over a 1,000HP and still daily drive it if you want.

Re: new gtr article

oh it will have a HUGE ammount of aftermarket support.

oh...and p.s.....anything with more than 600 horses is really....unpractical for daily driving.

i understand that. however, there are daily driver gtr's here in japan that have 800-1000HP. i guess they put so much money into their gtr and don't have enough for a beater. haha.

Wow the new 2007 GT-R sounds very interesting. I heard something about this but never thought the horsepower would be 450. I thought it would be about 360-380 or so. I guess I was really stupid for comparing the 2007 G35 ( Skyline ) to the current G35 models. I was told that the 2007 would have the same body and I think that is correct or maybe it will have a different body kit or such but I heard it will look like the current G35. I never believed it would have 450 horsepower straight from the box. Wow have I been mis-imformed ( stupid friends ) =) O and the lexus.jp link doesn't work =)
