91 eclipse clutch

I was just wondering what kind of clutch I should put on my eclipse. It has the stock one on it right now and I was told to change the clutch while the engine is out. any suggestions? Or should I stay with a stock clutch and if so where could I find one.

Re: 91 eclipse clutch

Is Your Car Stock? I Have A 2500lb Clutch On Mine Right Now, The Pedal Will Be Stiffer, But The Clutch Should Last For Ever. A.c.t. Has A 2100lb Clutch That Should Do It For You.

Re: 91 eclipse clutch

Gunit... It all depends on what you want to use the car for. Street/strip type of driving, daily driver and so on or just race. I'm guessing daily driver is the case so you can go with several different company's. I just started using Southbend clutches and they are very nice. I have a 3200# pressure plate with a pedal pressure of less than stock so its very easy to push down. Thats why I like DXD (Southbend) clutches, plus they are fairly cheap.

You could go with a ACT 2100 but the pedal would get a little stiffer as stated already. There is also Exedy and Centerforce who make decent clutches.

Just some information that I came across and found to be very interesting and everyone should remember... Every company that make clutch kits for street use get their clutch disks from Exedy. Some companies just grind off the name on it so you cant tell. So dont let a company try to fool you and over charge you for something you could get cheaper from somewhere else.

Make sure you get the flywheel resurfaced to .610 +/- .002 and you'll be good to go. Replace the throw out bearing too, usually they come in the clutch kit if you go that route.

Now for Chirp'n3rd...

#1. Please turn off the caps lock. Makes it hard to read!

#2. Private message me what kind of VR4 motor do you have in your Talon. I'm interested in seeing pictures of it if its what I think it is.

Re: 91 eclipse clutch

I think its also worth mentioning that according to his sig the original post has a NT car. Even a 2100 seems like overkill But as usual, I have no experience with the NTs...

Capitalizing the first letter of every word does indeed make it tough to read. And its a lot of extra work for nothing
