Cold idle RPMs too low

Hi everyone:

GM 88 5L. When cold, the RPMs are low and I need to gas it to keep it from stalling. Once it warms up, the idle is fine (just a tad bit slow). It runs fine other than idle. I dont want to pay for a lot of computer checks and sensor replacements. What should I be suspecting as the culprit? This started happening the moment I drove out of a repair shop that had replaced my alternator, but I dont see any connection between the two.

Thanks for any advice.

Why dont you just turn your idle up? draw a picture where the adjustment screw is right now....turn it up a quarter of a turn at a time...always keep track exactly how many turns you are turning it. That way you can always return it to where it was.

Two things: turning up the idle may work, or it may make your idle TOO fast once warmed up.

Since it happened right after a repair, I'd go take a look in the engine bay and see if they didn't knock a wire off of a sensor. If so, easy fix. If not, I'd try to take it back to them and tell them the problem, see if they'll fix it for free.
