stalling issues with an evo

someone told me this yesterday:

they are known to have stalling issues if you put a fully vent bov on

i was wondering if there is any truth to that? ive never heard of such a thing, so i figured i would ask you guys and girls. thanks for the help

Yeah, this is true. If you put a BOV that vents into the atmoshpere on ANY car that uses MAF engine management(The evo uses MAF not MAP i believe), then you will have idle problems. With the MAF, the air doesnt need to be ventilated into the atmosphere, but rather recirculated. A BOV, as you know, releases pressure built up in the intake. While you are in idle, the BOV stays open and will make the air that the engine needs, "leak" out of the BOV. I hope that helped. I dont know if that is 100% correct, but that is what i am understanding. I have a 3g eclipse right now, hoping to upgrade to an evo soon. haha.

Ive been reading on other evo forums...such as www.evolutionforums.com, and they say that if you get an intake, the stock bov will be loud....but idk the validity in that statement. You can get a bov that recirculates the air and makes the sound, but its not called a bov, i cant remember the name.

I think ive seen your name in the 3g forums...you want to upgrade too? Man idk about you but im sick of having a slow car.

Check this thread out form evolutionforums.com...it may help you on the BOV issue. http://forum.evolutionforums.com/zerothread?id=4566 Yeah i want that PSHHH sound if i EVER get my evo.
