check engine light & 4x4 low

I have a 2002 sporttrac my check engine light is on and also my 4x4 low isnt working. I think it is just the soleniod switch for the 4x4. Does anyone know where under the dash it is located. Would the light be related to the 4x4 low not working?

To Shift Into 4x4 Low You Must Be Stopped In Neutral And Foot On Brake - The Engine Light Will Not Come On For A 4x4 Concern

Go to Auto-zone and have the engine code pulled it will give you an idea of what might be wrong
