We have a 1990 Buick Century 6 cylinder that won't die, God Bless it.
All of a sudden the controls for all 4 windows on the driver side door have gone dead. The remaining 3 windows can be controled by the corresponding local door control. I have the Chilton manual, and flipped to page 6-79 Chassis Electrical for the 90-92 Century. The diagram in the book doesn't quite match the switch when I took it apart. The switches' actual wires are as follows: blue white on blue black tan brown green light green Can someone give me some direction here please - how can I troubleshoot this? I suspect a wire may be broken at the door jam, but I pushed and pulled & etc to see if I got any life and got nothing. Thanks all, Jason Florida, USA |

Re: 1990 Century All 4 Driver Side Window Controls Dead
I had the same problem on my 91 century a couple of days ago. I found that the wire that fed the power to the switch had broken. If I rember right it was pink and was the mainpower wire. It does not have power until you turn on the switch, what I did was to find the same wire on the other side of the door and use a "jumper" wire of the same dia. to bypass the broken spot in the wire, and now it works ok. I also had to replace the motor on the power window.
