harddrive paging issue

Hey guys. I recently got this new harddrive to replace my old crapped out one. Well it's havving some issues and i'm not very adept at computer stuff to figure out what's going on.

Anyway, my symptoms seem to point to a paging issue. It happens a lot when i'm trying to play videogames (its so bad when i try SW: republic commando that it ends up crashing the computer). What happens is that it makes a funny noise for about a second, a kind of medium pitched...noise, it's hard to explain. Then whatever program im in freezes up for a couple seconds (and the sound byte its playing gets repeated like a broekn record...really annoying) and then resumes. When in counterstrike this will happen one maybe every ten minutes, and its not consistent. With SW:RC, i can't even start the game because it keeps doing it repeatedly every couple of seconds, until i get a stop error.

so far the stop errors i've gotten are 0x00000050 (page fault in nonpage area and 0x00000077 (kernel stack inpage error).

Does anyone know what's going on, or at least know how to start leading towards a fix? thanks!

Re: harddrive paging issue

Warranty return. I would say it will fail completely soon and I wouldn't be keeping any of my data on it.

Go for a new HDD with 8mb of level 2 cache for performance.

Re: harddrive paging issue

Never trust a hard drive that makes funny noise - Replace it ASAP
