Powertrain Warranty

I have a quick question. I have a 2002 1500. I just lost my transmission at 68,000 miles. I have received mixed views as to weather it is covered under the warranty. Could someone confirm either way whether it is or not. Thanks......

Call your dealer. Did you buy this truck new, or did you buy a warranty when you bought the truck?

Re: Powertrain Warranty

Manufactures warranty.....3 years or 60,000 kilometres (that means if you bought it new)......If you bought it used, then you have 3 months or 5000 kilometres warranty..............These are the standard warranty periods, so your screwed..........

Now if you bought the extended warranty, then your lucky, other then that I guess it cost you oh about 2000 beans......

Re: Powertrain Warranty

No, the warranties on these trucks tranfer when you buy used. My truck had ~25k on it when i got it, and I get the remainder of the mileage (11K) or until october 31 of this year. I have since verified this, because i keep finding little nitpicky things for the dealer to replace (loose windshield trim, oil filler tube didn't sit right, replace my rear window, passenger side "A" pillar trim is slightly warped)

The original factory warranty goes with the vehicle, it doesn't matter how many owners it's had. 3 year/36,000 miles, 80,000 on emissions, and what, 5 years on corrosion---not sure about that one.

I bought it new. Everyone I spoke to except a dealer thought the transmission was covered under powertrain (80,000 miles) I guess not.
I bought a 92' silverado brand new. Had it 11 years. Changed tires twice, a battery and front pads once. With the 2002, pads all around, shocks, rotors turned, transmission ($2000) not to mention a clicking in the rear when I accelerate ..........anyone know where I can get a new 92'?
