Question How much to trick out a cavy?

Whatup.... usually i only check out the firebird forum ( partly because i own one ) but i was curious.. how much would it cost to trick out a 2000+ cavalier.. im going to msu this fall for college but thought about trading in my ride next summer and pimpin it out some, such as lambhorghini doors, body kit, air ride, pulsating led underbody kit, alpine decals ( cda-7969, 2 12'' type r's is what i have in my bird ) for the windshield and rearwindow, rims, and engine tweaks to make it run like a sleeper for a little 4 cylinder.. Think all that would be about 10 g's? i dont really wanna spend more then that if i dont have to. If i do plan on trading in my bird what would be better a stick or automatic transmission for the cavaliers? dont really know a whole lot bout cavy's.. any info would be thankful =)

Speed costs Money, how fast do you want to go?

There are perks for both auto and manual. If i could do it over though, i would have bought a manual. But since i have almost 4,000 into mine i am sticking with it.

I went from a trans am to a 03 cavalier..trust me get the 5 speed, I test drove both and didn't care for the automatic, at least the stick you still get some of that performance feel.

If you want a Sleeper, then forget about a body kit, lambo doors, alpine decals and all cosmetics..spend most of your $ on the engine/transmission/suspension.

Re: How much to trick out a cavy?

they are fairly cheap to mod. If your going to get a cavalier, get a Z24, its the only one worth it in my book and has the biggest backing for aftermarket parts.

I have an '03 and I am wishing there was a little more variety for aftermarket parts. I would recommend going for A 2000-2002 Cavalier Z24 with the 2.4-liter and 5-speed getrag tranny (which came standard in 2000). There are many aftermarket parts at decent prices!

Re: How much to trick out a cavy?

However much it costs to fab a Camaro frame, motor, tranny and suspension to fit under a Cavalier body.

Or, if you want to go the traditional route...

lambhorghini doors,- 500-1000 depends on where you buy em.

body kit,- 600-1000 again, big variables

air ride, bout 1200 all said and done

pulsating led underbody kit, no idea...probably around 300-400?

alpine decals ( cda-7969, 2 12'' type r's is what i have in my bird ) for the windshield and rearwindow,- 100

rims, again, big variables, could be 300 to 2000

and engine tweaks to make it run like a sleeper for a little 4 cylinder...define "sleeper". For a 14 second car you would need either boost (1500-3000) or some farily heavy duty internal work. For 13s, prepare to mortgage the house.

Best of luck to ya!

Here it is a little over a year since I got my cavi and Im already $3000 deep into it. Hate to say it but my older brother was right. Once this kinda stuff gets ahold of you you get addicted and it just keeps pulling you farther in.

But I can stop buying stuff for the car any time I want to damn it!

at least you have a 3rd gen! Try having a 2nd gen like myself and see how hard it is to find ANY replacement part - OEM or aftermarket.

As for the cost to trick out a cavy(or any car for that matter)it's all a question of what kind of car you'd want in the end. a car to win on the 1/4 mile or at a show...

There was a GP on JBO a little while back you could get em for $475. And Modified Motorsports has em for $800. You can do the install yourself.
