nova swaps
i have a 78 nova thats been sitting in the back yard for 5 yrs which i got for cheap, and never drove. it was time to do somithing with it, so i took the inline 6 out, with tranny, and put a desmogged 78 monte carlo 305 in, with tranny and radiator, its burning rubber and everything, but i cant seem to get the tranny to act right, i keep adjusting the kick down cable, but keep over, and undershooting it. how i have it rigged right now, the tranny (i figure its a 200) wont shift down to first untill a split second after the car stops. It also seems like it wont shift into the final gear at all, when i take my foot off the gas on the freeway, it seems like the tranny slows the car down, instead of coasting. Im wondering if the tranny is going through its gears too quickly, or if i might start thinking about upgrading my rear end, or maybe a new torque converter. the engine is stock except for the duel exhaust and the lack of emissions appliances. ohh yeah, i dont wanna throw to much money into it either. tomarrow i think i might try to take late 70s, or early 80s camaro tranny out of a parts car i have and see if that will help. i hope its more of a performance tranny, or at leat a turbo 350. im sure it will fit with one of the 3 driveshafts i have, i hope!! ooh yeah, i also want to take the bucket seats from the camaro and put them in the nova, but they are real low to the floor, i dont know if ill even be able to see over the dash. thanks for any suggestions.

Re: nova swaps
I agree, ditch the overdrive and go with the TH350. Way less headaches.

if you are wondering what the ride hight would look like with a pair of buckets from the camaro then check out these that I put in my 72 Nova. They are from a 80's camaro and they fit perfect and the ride hight is pretty good. you just have to drill 4 new holes and they bolt into the floor pan (as long as your floor isn't rusted out)
