Sound System

I am going to put a really nice sound system in my 95 Toyota 4Runner, 4WD, drop tailgate. I am planning on spending around $1500 (maybe a little more). I already have some good front speakers and a nice sony mp3 CD player. I don't know whether to put 2 or 3 12" subwoofers in the back. If anyone has any information about amps, speaker brands (I am thinking about type R, Alpine), boxes, capacitors, a way to keep it from getting stolen, or anything else just tell me please. Thanks in advance,
Silver Cobra

Re: Sound System

I wouldnt go with sony amps, i would go with kicker, alpine, or audiobahn subs. A ported box sounds great, i know, i have one. The type R's are great subs. For theft purposes, I chained the box down and purposely broke the latch to open the trunk. You can get some ideas on my page:

I have a great knowledge on sounds and stereos, so if you have any more??????? just ask.

Re: Sound System

this is just my opinion but, three 12s in a runner. thats a ton of bump in that confined a space espesialy when you dont have to go through a seat. my personal choise would be somthing along the lines of a single MTX 10 with a rockford 400 wt amp. i personaly like the sound of the good sony 6x9's

i would go audiobahn all the way.I have 1 10in audiobahn 1200 watts being pushed by a 1000 watt amp and you cannot sit in the thing.Audiobahn is great, high dolllar but well worth iit.Mine is in a virtual technolgys bandpass box that is about 10 yrs old

Re: Sound System

As the moderator said, please don't ressurrect old posts. This post was made a long time ago. I have now already purchased my system, got it installed, and use it all the time. Thank you for the opinions but I don't need them any more. I bought two 12" Alpine type R with a 1500 w amp. and a custom box. The end.
