Question anybody that drove TYPE S please answer...

anybody that test drove TYPE S... how is the transmission? OK GOOD SUCKS??? I have a 99 Mustang GT and I hate the transmission, it's manual, there is TOO MANY stop signs and lights here you have to slow down and stop every couple of seconds... I hate pulling down into the second gear, than up right up to the 3rd gear... it was just hard... I'd rather drive an automatic... I was wondering about RSX TYPE S transmission since it only comes with a 6 speed manual? How is it? Hard? EASY? is it anything new? is it the samo OLD manual transmission similar to the one i have in my mustang???? thanx in advance :flash:

Type S Transmission

In my opinion, the transmission is excellent. Like the earlier Integra, it has a hydraulic clutch which requires maybe a 3lb force - very light on your foot. The stock shifter is quite smooth, and the addition of multiple synchros-per-gear on the RSX makes shifting an absolute dream. It's also a substantially more reliable transmission than on the older Integras.

Driving a honda manual is absolutely NOTHING like driving a Ford manual. It's a completely different experience. Mustangs have always had shoddy gearboxes and shifters, with stiff and uneven clutches. You'll be very impressed with an RSX-S's transmission.

I drove the rsx type s with 6 speed and the transmission was great. I read on here about people grinding gears and such. well all I have to say about that is that they don't know how to drive a manual. I have driven a lot of cars and this gearbox is smooooth. I would highly reccomend one ove a mustang anyday.

hey my friend

i've always had american cars, about 7 mustangs 89-96 and 2 camaro z-28's 94 and 96. i just got an rsx-s. The mustangs shifters sucked, too long a throw and whatnot. The camaro's six speeds were a little better, but still too sluggish. The rsx-s has probably the best shifter i've ever seen, the shifts are smooth and precise, and u even get a little click that lets you know you've shifted just right, theres no comparison, i love the tranny on this car.

light as well

if i remember correctly the clutches on the mustangs and camaros required that you lift weights and participate in aerobic exercise. The rsx-s doesn't require much pressure but still has the right amount of play. look above about the hydraulic subject.

I agree... Maybe I haven't test driven one yet I tried out the transmission at the dealers, and I like the click it makes when you shift into the proper gear. The dealer also told me that nobody has come into the Acura shop because of faulty or bad shift except for people that don't know how to use manuals.
