2002 Jetta Radio Problem

Have a 2002 Jetta with the Cass/Cd Radio. The stereo was working fine all day and I got home and turned the car off as normal. Got back in the car and radio does not come on and the red light for the alarm is blinking. Tried power button and that did no good either. The radio does not display safe mode either. I tried turning the car off and on again and that didnt work either. I dont want to have to take this into the shop for a costly repair, is there anyone out there that could direct me as the what this problem is? I'm fairly sure it has something to do with the alarm and wiring but I was hoping someone else out there had a similar problem.

Thanks in advance

Disconnect battery

If you disconnect power, it will usually reset. otherwise, take it to the dealer and have them enter code. if they are even decent, they should just do it for you...
