1995 sunfire-stalling,pick up weak and burning smell

Hi,

First time on here and really hope someone can help. I have a 95 sunfire that has recently started to stall here and there. I have very weak pick up but once at around 50km it's okay. I also have noticed a burning smell after driving for only about 15 minutes. I have been told it could possibly be my timing chain, but I'm worried that it might be my fuel pump??? Does anyone know what these symptoms could mean? I would really appreciate any kind of feedback.
