It must be Electrical??? 98 Caravan Help.

I've got a 1998 3.8L AWD Caravan. It won't start. All the dome and interior lights work fine. No dimming on start up. No clickling from the starter.

I tested the battery and the starter at a local auto store, they work fine. I replaced the ignition starter switch, and I got a got a new ($60) BCM.

Any ideas?!? I guess I should buy a voltmeter and begin testing from the battery to see if it's the posts or something else. Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

By the way, I have swapped out the starter relay with the cig/accessory relay and my mobile phone still charges...so it's not the relay.

santorini I too have a 98 Grand Caravan 3.8L AWD, same problem.

Try turning the ignition key half way till clock and what ever comes on.

Then beat the dash right over the steering column. Then try to start the vehicle.

I too have an electrical problem. I have stopped using my key fob (? what ever its called). Some how I think it arms my vehicle in error, causing the vehicle to become disabled.

Since I have stopped using the key fob everything works fine.

There is a circuit board in the dash where the alarm system is plugged to and I think thats where there is a loose connection or a bad sodering job. I need to remove the dash to get to it, soon, so I can permanently fix it.

I've also disconnected the battery and sit for 30 mins to reset the computer, it has helped sometimes but not always. Smacking the dash a few times has done the trick for me though.

Let me know if it helps!!

Haven't experienced the problem but what is said above has been the answer in previous posts. Try it and then search the other posts for the fix. It's in here somewhere.
