MV Agusta F4 1000 Ago, 1/9 Italeri

Time to make another bike. Allthou I have a bunch of moto kits I decided for this one because I don't plan any major changes so it will be almost OOB.
As allways I start with body/fairings, they were sanded with 800 grit paper because of very hard mold lines, puttied and primed with automotive gray filer. Few coats of Aluminium on both fairings, and some velur wall paper on the seat (since the realy bike has velur seat).

Tires were.......shit, gloss, heavy mold line, heavy patern (like off road tires) so I sanded them heavily (on dremel).

Engine details as well as frame details are extremly soft so a lot of washing on those parts to get at least decent look of the whole thing.

And some red paint on the fairings, still need a clear coat because aluminium is dull.

And that wall paper on the seat after painting (big thank you to Zeljko aka Hrmodeler for the tip)

Cool! I'm building this one right now as well. The body was terrible and the tires are indeed uhm... I don't think there's a word that can describe that kind of low quality... The engine looks great btw. I hope mine will look as good as yours. Keep it coming

Hi Sasa,

nice progress so far. The red looks very smooth and deep, engine colour is great, too.

The heavy pattern on the front tire can still bee seen inspite of your sanding.

On the first picture the seat is grey velur, did you paint it red or is the red velur another material. On the photos the grey one looks finer.

Thanks guys, I also think I will have to take some more rubber of the front but I am scared to push harder becouse the tyre it self begins to shred when treated to hard (very hard one, not as soft as racing Italeri kits or Tamiya's). Velur is same (it comes grey in the store and I just painted it with red marker pen, it maybe is little to rough for the "real" velur purpose, I will try to experiment a bit more to achive more natural look.

Hi Sasa!
To bad they don't make this one in 1/12 scale...would look stunning on my shelf ;-)
I think you've done a terrific job so far. As mentioned by others the fairing red looks VERY deep. Have you polished it up or did your paintjob turn out that good? I must also say the engine wash is stunning. I have actually never seen an open box with one of these larger Italeri kits so I don't know what to expect when it comes to details, but your painting really lifts this one! Flocking is nice. Agree on the front tire though, try to do something about that and I'll sit back and wait for an update!
/Joel

Re: MV Agusta F4 1000 Ago, 1/9 Italeri

Little more progress, this time I tested few gold and chrom sprays. Gold one is hard to get (if you don't live in Croatia and it is from Italian producer, very cheap, big spray for 3$, excelent quality)

also front and rear fork are painted with that gold colour, front is half detailed.

But the best thing is chrome, from Dupli color (some new stuff) called Tuning, special effect, temperature resistant, here it is washed heavily with Revell shity clear colours (with brush).
