Shift knob and Convert. boot

Hey guys,
I recently went into the dealership to look for some parts like a stock metal shift knob and convertable boot, First they said there is no stock metal shift knob (is this true?) the reason i asked was because my stock black leather one started to get worn and i tried the universal replacement but it didnt fit properly and kept coming loose, is there a really good universal shift knob out there or one that someone could recommend? And second the boot for my convert. is like $780 is this right? wow, it is just a peice of plastic right? Why is it so expensive and is there a cheaper place to buy one?

no there is not a stock metal shift boot. most universal shift knobs will not work with the stock shifter. some people have made them work but you end up having to cut some of the stock shifter to make it fit.

whats a convertible boot? the shift boot around the shift knob? or the convertible top of the car?

I am referring to the convertible top of the car the peice that covers the convertible top where it retracts.
