third gen headers?

anybody know what the best headers are for these cars performance wise and installation. and do they help much. also what catback system should i go with im thinking edelbrock because its the cheapest one that i trust. sound is pretty important to me so would i be better off getting the flowmaster system?

To me SLP stainless headers are the absolute best made for the third gens. For the catback...pretty much any with the 3" intermediate pipe, some swear by the flow master, others like Hooker....for price look at the Dynomax (formerly Thrush) system at Summit...$179. How it sounds is subjective..I like it, some of the flowmaster installs sound harsh to me, the Dynomax is nice and mellow...till you push the loud pedal, but it isn't raspy sounding like others.

Re: third gen headers?

i used the edelbrock TES headers and was very pleased with the results. seat of the pants improovment was signifigent. The only catch is that the primary pipes are routed right over the spark plugs. making tune ups difficult without a modified socket to get the plugs out.

as far as catback systems, they all offer about the same gains, so pick one based on sound. Visit the webistes for the reputable exaust companies, they should have sound files that you can listen to to get an idea of what you preferr.

Like i said, im using the edelbrock TES headers, and i have those backed by a catco high flow converter, and a 3in flowmaster american thunder system, and it sounds awesome. but thats just my taste.

They run about $15/set here..less than a lot of other plugs.

I think gonna go the same setup as 89, but with a magnaflow catback from a 93-97 LT1, it can be done i believe with a little fabrication at a muffler shop. Also, i gotta get new plugs next week when headers get here, i'm going ac delco, should i get regulars or rapid fire.

Re: third gen headers?

im not big on any of the SLP exhaust products, but i have dynomax headers into a 3 flowmaster, kind of wishing i used magnaflow cat back, but it makes no difference with a open exhaust cut out
