DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDEEEE! How did you fix the problem?? I've had the exact same thing happen and am so irritated that blowing up the car is an appealing option!!
Here's what I posted yesterday. "I've got a not-so-nifty (only b/c i'm ticked off) 96 Jetta GLS w/ just over 80K miles. She's been neglected for a bit and I've finally decided to sell. Yesterday, I put in a spanking-new battery and she started perfectly well. No problems at all. Gave her a quick wash before thunderstorms and put her in the garage. This morning wanted to pull her out to finish cleaning her up and she wouldn't start. I checked the battery connections and fixed the loose positive. However, before I could try to start her, the @*(&*!^&@*^ alarm started. It would not stop when I try to turn her over. In fact, the car will not start at all now but the alarm will not stop. So, before I blow up the garage (which would be really bad b/c it would take out my hubby's MGB) in frustration, will someone tell me 1) if there is a way to bypass or disengage the alarm system and 2), any hints/fixes to get her to start again? Again, there were no problems yesterday. Once I replaced the battery, the alarm started and I turned the key, and viola(!), perfect car. Now, nada!! thanks a bunch ahead of time!!"
Any help you can give me is fantastic!!
Thanks.
