What MOD to do next!?

Hey wassup guys, back again. I have a 97 gtp and it has a 104,000 miles on it. I have a 3.4 pulley, CAI, INTENSE PCM, removed resonator and U-Bend. I decided to keep the car for this summer and possible all of next year since it did make it through this winter. My question is, im looking to throw another mod on my car. I have very limited $$$, for the sake of discussion here, lets make my budget at approx. 500$. I just got new tires and rims so scratch those, but besides that , what mod should i get. Im looking for the most effecient HP/$ ratio here. Any Ideas?

Well if your not building a race car, which I don't think you are. Hold the money for a while and use it on your next ride. You have enough for street use. Save it.

Re: Re: What MOD to do next!?

I'm a firm believer in both pro and con (fair & balanced) and in the end let him decide, so here's my 2 cents.

Here's my suggestion for the most bang for the buck for under $500.00.

3.25 supercharger pulley $65.00

72mm Polished & Ported Throttle Body $280.00

Hi-Flow CAT $100.00

Total: $445.00 not counting S/H

Plus you should have enough left over for a few beers.

Thrasher CAI, DHP v1.0 ECU, Granatelli CAI Tuneable MAF,
3.4 SC pulley, Hi-Flow CAT, u-bend delete, 180 TS,
TB spacer, MSD 8.5mm wires, AC Delco 41-932 spark plugs,
Goodyear Gatorback Serp. & SC Belt
ET: 14.3 @ 96 mph

That would probably work but I'm not sure about the overall HP gains. Its under $500.

I'd go with headers but you can't do that for $500 unless you get them used or by chance on EBay. But here's another option for $500.00.

DynoMax Super Turbo Cat-Back Exhaust System $420

And he stiill has enough left over for beer.

Re: What MOD to do next!?

Dont waste your money on a catback system. Far too expensive for small gain you'll get. Really they are for sound only. Get a cutout if anything and then you can bypass the stock system.

On a practical basis I agree. If I thought any exhaust mod would give me the most bang for the buck I would have done that a long time ago. All I've got on my GTP is the u-bend delete and a hi-flow CAT. However, headers are a different issue but thats another story.

IMO - My original suggestion is hard to beat considering the cost factor.

Re: What MOD to do next!?

Kustom Kid is wise, i appreciate the suggestions, Bnaylor, i really didn't realize i could get those 3 mods for under 500$, thank you for your input. But in the end, i am going to save my money for a used BMW M3, trying to cop a 99 M3 coupe, about 5 grand short now.... and Bnaylor, im only 19, so any money i have left over goes towards Root Beer only ......RIGHT.... what am i saying

There are alot of people alittle more interested in modding these cars over at clubgp.com or even 3800pro.com if you want some real help.

Just like when gambling NEVER bet... or in this case spend "scared" money.

Otherwise just have fun. These cars CAN be modded and maintained. Don't let the naysayers and people who suck at modding/maintaining their cars, persuade you differently.

Good luck!

Hey Jim (KustomKid54) is this guy implying that we all are naysayers and suck at modding/maintaining our cars??

You know I had to read it twice. Never want to judge too fast. But, I would say he has. I guess we will just have to roll them back on the trailer and take them home.
You know I guess you would have to know Guy a little, to know what he wants. He loves his GP. But it's not his car of choice. We talked about it before. School and studies come first. But, he is smart enough to put money away for what he wants.
Boy I do hope someday we can become modders. Till then, I'm going out and oil the wheels on my walker.

Yeah, I thought so too! Nothing like getting flamed whether expressed or implied by a wet behind the ear college kid sucking off his mom and dad's bank account.

Wait till he needs warranty work or help on his '04 GTP when he blows the engine or tranny.

Speaking of ClubGP, you know I didn't see his '04 GTP 1/4 mile time listed

Boy, I'm glad I didn't write that. 11.93 is pretty good time.
Speaking of parts? When are you going to change your list? I know, your waiting for someone to come down to TX, and blow their doors off, right?
