scratchbuilding Skyline engine

so my friend got me a Tamiya Nissan Skyline GT-R Vspec R34 model and as you all probably know it does not come with an engine. so i was thinking of scratchbuilding the engine. i searched google for it but i didnt find any good pics. plus i was wondering if the Vspec engine is the same as the stock regular GT-R engine. any help would be appreciated !

p.s. im finally getting back into car modeling cuz school is ending soon !

i'm pretty sure engine is exactly the same on v-spec .
v-spec is in reference to the ATTESA-PRO system and the active rear LSD.

by a tamiya r32 and save yourself a big headache. take out the engine and I'll take the rest of the kit off your hands if you don't want it.

thanks for the help guys. i was looking at that link earlier but i didnt know whether or not you scratchbuilt that engine cuz it looks so good. i was looking at the model and there appears to be the twin turbos and the long cylindrical thing on the other side of the engine so ill probably cut out the engine and take those parts of and use them again(or build new turbos cuz the ones in the kit look ugly)... so ill probably start that model soon... or finish my other WIPs.

Does the R34 body fit to the R32 chassis?

Anything can fit in anything if you do some work. But you'd still have to build a firewall and the frame around the front, that's the hard part. Cutting the molded-into-the-chassis motor away is easy.

Also, Hiro, your website (that link, if I recall) was mentioned in Scale Auto when someone posed a similar question to the magazine (not the website).

I am surprised nobody has mentioned it yet, maybe it doesn't work, but Aoshima makes a 1/24 scale RB26 Twin cam engine kit.
It is just the engine, though it does mention that it includes an engine bay for installation into a curbside kit.....

It is Aoshima S-tune No. 122.

It has been mentioned in previous threads on the same subject, but it is only the top half of the engine, therefore the Tamiya R32 option is the best, but it's up to you which route you take.
I also feel that the Aoshima engine is out of scale slightly, having build both.

I bought that one and the RB20 motor and was sadly disappointed. They are both half cuts. It just the top half of the motor. Basically the valvecover and manifolds. I guess you can still use it (I did) and still do a good job, I just wish I knew it wasn't a complete engine. Maybe you can just scratch build the lower half?

I agree that you should get an R32 RB26 and save yourself the headache. As far as reference pics Google is your best friend. Engine code is RB26DETT.

i've also build both, in fact i have a semi-built RB26-DETT around here if you want it, it doesnt have all the parts and isnt in a perfect state but i think it ok. pm if you want it

hey... thanks for the offer... i sent you a pm.

im still not sure if i wanna scratchbuild or leave it curbside or get that engine from 2.2 Straight six.... still thinking. it doesnt seem like scratchbuilding an engine would be that hard. it would just take a ton of patience cuz of all the small parts and whatnot.
