Talking **PICS!** My Install is Finished! 56k friendly!

Well, now that there's less than 5 post showing up, I figure it's time to add a thread with pictures! Enjoy!

All of the following images are clickable thumbnails.

My car:

93 Honda Accord, 5 speed, leather and sunroof options, added fog lights.

Head Unit:

Front Speakers:

I'm planning to make some MDF baffles when I do the sound deadening in a few weekends.

Rear Speakers:

Amplifier:

Subwoofer:

Planned upgrades:
  • Sound deadening - a can of spray on bed liner for each door, and half a gallon of roll on for trunk, floor panels, and wheel wells. Some minimal expanding foam for the trunk lid and some more spray or roll on to cover it.
  • MDF Baffle for front 5.25" CDTs.
  • Window tinting
  • Engine mods: Cold air intake, new exhaust, ecu adjustment (maybe).
  • Suspension: coilovers, tower bar, sway bars.

Any other suggestions? I'll be getting these as the stock stuff wears out, and probably installing most of them myself.

Whoops! You better photoshop that Directed Audio amp. Those that you know will flame you. You should see the new 5ch amp they have. It can be adjusted with a laptop and linked to any newer Directed alarm so if someone messes with the amp, it's dead in the water. I know the 1100d5 has decent power but if you can find an older 600d, you can link them together for more sub power.

Overall you install doesn't look to bad except the tweets. I would flush them in the little black A-pillar covers that's in the top corner of the door panel.

Re: **PICS!** My Install is Finished! 56k friendly!

Hehehe.... I personally don't have anything against directed, so I went with it for now. $225 for a refurbished unit of a model that used to go for $750 didn't seem too bad to me. I might have been able to do better, but this one seemed decent for the money. Do you have access to remotes for that model, btw?

I think I may put the tweeters in the a-frame cap eventually, I just like the way they sound where they are now. Also, routing wires to that location is going to be a ROYAL p.i.t.a. I may try to embed them in the dash sometime as well.

Poncho..... no one's on here says directed is bad. DEI amps imo are very solid and good amps. It's just that directed products aren't anything special, not to mention that much better can be had for the price.

I have nothing against directed, I'm just sick of it being the only thing you ever reccomend... it's annoying... pick up some more companies, jeebus!

Dice, not a bad system at all good job!

I would, if GSteg would ever sell it to me... he disappeared like 2 weeks ago. I'm considering other options for the subs at this point. Such as a SX 15 in a ported enclosure, or something along that line. I want more clean output in the lower frequencies I've found. I got to do a little testing today with a buddy of mine, and I started with the sound deadening process. I got some expanding foam into the space between the two peices of sheet metal that make up my trunk lid, and it reduced the rattle by about 60%. I ran out before I finished, so I'm just gonna let it sit overnight. I haven't decided how I'm going to finish it... carpet or a layer of bedliner? One of the guys working on it with me stated "That [foam] will never work. I used three layers of dynamat on my friends trunk lid, and it still rattled just as bad as before." He went from to in about 2 seconds when I pumped the stuff in. It was pretty funny.

Next time I have a whole day to work on my car, I'm gonna spray my doors, and roll some deadener onto my floor panels, trunk, and wheel wells.

I've also got a lead on a decent sounding exhaust... can't wait to get that in.

Re: **PICS!** My Install is Finished! 56k friendly!

Dice, that amp is seriously under rated. Yes, DEI makes great amps. It's kinda funny when I think back at a meeting I had with some of the "suits" from DEI about 10 years ago. They stated they wanted to just make audio stuff that was a good bang for the buck which they did. Then, they came out with HUGE subs like the CompX line then they didn't have any amps big enough to run them. Now, they have amps that are HUGE and can run any sub out there. Oh, I just got rid of the remote bass knob for the old amps. I don't have anymore and am not sure if the new ones work. Just stop buy any local store, they should have them. If you have problems, I could contact my rep.

Punk, actually I do carry many other companies. It's just that I really do like DEI. Now, if money isn't a concern, then I'll push other brands but for the person that wants to stick around $1000 for great subs and amp, DEI is where I'm at.

You guys gotta hear the new SX line from DEI seriously! They finally made a great all around sub.

Well, I was just there last weekend finishing up a car. Not sure when I'll be back there again. Hopefully soon. Actually, I may sell the jeep so I won't have anything to show if that happens. I've got a guy offering me $16k for it so I might spring for it.
