check engine light just came on one day?!?!?!?!

So i was driving home from work one day and i glanced at my gauage panel and my check engine light came on for no apparent reason. Now the car is still under warranty but i would like to try to figure this one out myself but i can't if it is a computer problem anyone have any ideas, or suggestions? thanx

The same thing happened to me, after checking all the normal stuff I finally took my car to the shop to have the codes read, it was overheating, long story short the hose from the resevoir to the radiator was plugged so the resevoir was full and the motor wasn't.

if car is under warranty take it back to dealer. if u still want to give it a try u will have to pull codes from comp. have to know iif it is eec-iv or obdII. each have a different port to connect to. obdII system started in 95 models.

thanks for the reply, finally figured what the problem was. The codes that were pulled out by the reader were confusing because the parts they indicated checked out fine. But the indicated parts were reading faults further back the line. The actual problem -- the engine was dry, no coolant, and the radiater resevoir was full so I assumed the radiator was too. So now it's running like a champ.
