Anyone added a block heater?
Anyone have experience either having a stock engine block heater or adding one aftermarket?
From what I've researched, there's a cord assembly and a heater plug that goes into the block. I was wondering how much it cost, and how difficult it would be to retrofit. GM shows it as a $35 add on if your factory order the truck. |

Re: Anyone added a block heater?
Not positive about installing one on a chevy, however replaced a few on my old mazda, and it was really simple, basically just plug and play, literally. Five minutes tops

Re: Anyone added a block heater?
I agree pretty simple to install. No really much work involved in the install.

Re: Anyone added a block heater?
Not too sure how to install one but, mine came equipped with one. I use it quite a bit in the winter. Even though my truck sits in the garage; it's nice to come down to a warm vehicle. Jump in and instant heat...

Re: Anyone added a block heater?
Installed a few on '80 and older cars and pickups, pretty easy if nothing is in the way. Look under the block and find a core plug on a side that will be far enough from the exhaust to keep the cord from getting burned
and yet easy enough to get the plug out. Really worth the time and money.Good luck.
