So, I've gone though the user manual for my new (to me) 2002 Kia and it says to turn the alarm on turn the key to the right and the horn will honk once. To turn the alarm off turn it to the left and the doors open. Problem is, 9 out of 10 times, either way you turn the key the alarm goes off and you have to quickly jump in the car and turn on the engine to turn off the alarm. Anyone have a clue whats going on here? Is there a way to simply turn off the alarm system. I'd hate to do it but it's better then waking up my neighbors every time I unlock the car.

Re: Kai theft deterrent system problem
replace the lock cylinder sensor on the driver's door lock cylinder (it is a yellow two wire sensor on the back of the hole you stick your key in to unlock and lock)

Fastkia is correct, it's in the lock switch. In the mean time, if you lock your doors by pushing down the lock before closing the door your alarm won't set.

Is the senser something I can pick up at a local automotive store or do I have to go to the dealer to get one?

Re: Kai theft deterrent system problem
The dealer replaced my switches for free under the warranty.
