Shifting into drive

Havent seen this posted.

Basicly when I get in start it up, and when I am ready to go, I shift from park to drive, I have to shift past first, to second, and back into first for the trany to shift into first. I checked everything that leads to the trany, and none of the linkage is bent or anything.
Any Ideas ?

2001 1500, 80,000 miles.

Re: Shifting into drive

So if you put it from park to drive it won't go into gear at all?
