Am wondering what went wrong with changing out the front disk brakes then bleeding the brakes all around. Right after that the ABS and Brake lights came on. After following a suggestion to re-bleed the brakes till the lights came off, to no avail of course, I am at a quandary. I was told to disconnect the battery then turn the ignition key to on, then re-connecting the battery, still nothing.
Anyone have a suggestion???? Thanks to those who reply Jose |

Re: 99 Montana ABS and Brake lights on after brake service
When you bled the brakes was there any possibility that you ran the master cylinder empty. If you did there is a possibility that there is air in the entire system and you will need to rebleed the master cylinder and the ABS pump to get the air out of the system. You may want to take it to a technician to have it checked due to the fact that the system is so complicated.

If the brake light is on solid however, this would indicate that the level of fluid is low in the master cylinder, or that in bleeding the system the spool valve in the master cylinder (it trips a switch that indicates a leak in the front or rear system) may be stuck and not returning to the neutral position. Brakes, when not 'appearing' to work properly either because of 'feel' or a warning system indicator should not be ignored.... Hope this helps... . |

I did hear of the spool valve and someone suggested I bleed the brakes till the spool valve move to the center position. I tried that however and it did not help. Perhaps something in the ODB computer needs to be reset??? I'll look into that next. Thanks guys for all your help. |
