When it comes to performance (handling and straightline) and comfort the 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT is better. However, the Eclipse GT is also more expensive than the Tiburon GT. And also I have seen some Tibis with quite nicely done custom interiors and I heard you could gain plenty of performance without going towards forced induction just yet. Then again its probably pretty hard to get 280+hp without resorting to some sort of supercharger or turbocharging kit. There is also the fact that the Tiburon has a bit of a larger aftermarket than the new Eclipse considering it had a 3 year head start. But I bet you will see some good things to come from the Eclipse as well.
As for styling, in my opinion it is actually all up to your opinion.

the 06 eclipse and 06 tiburon is not a good comparison in performance. the new eclipse GT got a huge HP bump while the tiburon still remains the same as far as i know.
as for styling, i think the tiburon looks better than the 05 or 06 eclipse...
