Timing chain?

I have a 1995 Dodge Dakota v6 3.9 and was told if the timing chain broke on this type of motor the pistons would not hit the valves. They said it has the clearance to miss them. He told me its a non interfearance motor.
Is this true, since im a little worried about the chain do to high miles.
And don't have the cash to fix it yet.

Thanks for any replies
Ron

Re: Timing chain?

I would think so the 3.9 is not a real high compression engine.
