Question Overheating 93' Camery

Need some help.
It just started to get warm in the mid 80's and my temp gauge has been showing above normal to HOT. While on the freeway going about 65mph the temp seems to go down. Of course sitting at street lights the teamp rises again. I am positive that it is the thermostat. But, I will do the test that another member posted earlier to be sure. Where my problem lies is where is the thermostat located? I must be blind. I followed the radiator hose towards the engine but I am UTL, unable to locate.

Then further more, I was driving on my OH Camery this morning and died on the freeway, come to find out, the radiator was low. Now the engine will not start. I towed it home. If it does not start when I get home what can I do?
Thanks for the advise.
