Here's how to remove woindow tint

I thought I'd throw this out there to anyone who is considering removing aftermarket tint from their windows.

I had surfed the web looking for answers, and most said to use a razor blade for the tint and a variety of chemicals to get the glue residue off.

When I was talking to my sister in Vegas, she said they use steam to get tint off there. (there's a tinting place on just about every street corner.)

So, I went to WALMART and got a steamer machine. It was about $50. I steamed the top edge of the window for about 30 seconds and used my fingernail to get the tint unpeel started. Then I steamed the tint along the window as it was coming off and just kept at it. Each passenger window took about 5-10 minutes. After it was all off, I used goof off and a paper towel to get the minimal glue residue off. It looks great. Now my wife has a steamer to clean whatever.

My truck had limo tint on the drivers and passenger windows which is illegal in Delaware, thats why I took it off.

The tint had been on for 5 years I'm guessing, so if yours is really old, your mileage may vary in getting it off.

that's interesting, I would never had thought of using steam. Learn something new everyday!

Do you think that it could work on the badges also?

I'm not sure, I like the badges so far, so I hadn't tried. I know it is a biatch to get tint of of a defroster window, I think if you were very slow with lots of steam, it just might work. I don't have a defrroster, so it's a non issue for me.

Yeah windows with tint and defrosters are a bitch. You can actually just peal most Quality tint off a window if you just start on one corner and work your way out. Then use rubbing alcohol to get it off.

As for Defogger tint I would have to agree. lots of patience and lots of steam, I've also heard hair dryers work good for that too but, I don't know....
