Re: 01 ext cab rear speaker ideas plus speaker box ideas
Ok, it also might help posting this under the car audio forum, its under cars in general, then car audio. Do you want a ported or selaed 12, downfiring, or what. On that rear fill, what size is it. Also, would you rather just get a component set and put it in the front and forget the rear and just have subs in it.

well for a sub box im still up in the air with that due to me not sure what sub i was going to run, i was thinking of a DD3512 or RE(read that they were awsome as well) been told that either of these subs you would want them firing up and ported up, but still not sure. for real fill i dont car what size just just anything that looks and sounds ok. Was also thinking screw the rear fill and just get making some kicks with a component set, and some good 4x6 plates in the dash

Re: 01 ext cab rear speaker ideas plus speaker box ideas
With my Blazer I'm thinking of building the box with 2 10" subs, and 1 6x9 built right in each side.
I would like to build it fully self contained with the amp and everything, wired up with plugs so I can unplug it and remove it. Although I don't know if you'd have the room in the extended cab S-10 for this. My resoning for this is because I plan on taking the odd camping trip, or simular events when I need the extra space |

Re: 01 ext cab rear speaker ideas plus speaker box ideas
plucky...RE is Kick ass
I have a ported box with 2 RE series 12's (gross volume of the box is 5.1ft^3, its big). If you want the subs, I will sell them to you, pm me if you are interested, the box also, but the shipping would murder you, 3/4mdf is HEAVY. Also. Just screw the rear fill, put some 6.5" componets in the kickpanels, and forget the 4x6 plates. My .02$ -Ryan |

Re: 01 ext cab rear speaker ideas plus speaker box ideas
Last summer I had this old guy that bought his son a ZR2 S10 PU. It had 3 doors and they wanted to be able to use one side so I built a 2 cu/ft box and ported it to 35htz. I loaded it with a Directed Audio 12" CompX sub with a 750d amp to run it. The kid was pissed that his dad ordered only one 12" and thought it wouldn't work. Well, it turned out his buddy's were jeolous of how well only one 12" sub worked.

Your right. I'll take the space that I want over the sound any day. And if I can get them both I'm 1 happy camper. Young people still seem to think that 2 junky subs in the wrong box will give them more sound that 1 good sub in a proper built box. Well they're wrong and usually find out only after they ride in a car with the good stuff. |

Re: 01 ext cab rear speaker ideas plus speaker box ideas
Buy the RE Series from RE...They are equivelant to the JL w3's...and 74$shipped for the 12's I think. Port them tuned to 32hz, and they will sound Nice.
