2.2L SFI pulling 500hp?

Was talking to a guy at work today, who says he has a friend with a (98 I think he said) 2.2L SFI 2200 and squeezes over 500hp out of it, and then on top of that hits the bottle with NOS. Said something about bigger manifolds being able to handle the nos shots.

This even possible, or is he talking out his ass?

Might as well add this is the same guy driving a Toyota MR6. Said it didnt have a turbo, but I heard the fucking turbine spinning up everytime he rev'd the engine. lol

No way in hell you are going to get 500hp out of the 2.2L 2200 engine. I'm not so sure that the 2.4 LD9 can handle that. I may be wrong about the 2.4, but hes blowing smoke out his ass about the 2.2!

i dont see why its not possible...just means he spent a serious load of money doing internals..pullys..bolts...motormounts..lifters, rods, cam, crank, bore out the cylinders...its possible...just unlikely

strongly doubt it.
anything is possible these days thou so ya never know for sure.
id tell him to bring it in. take it for a little rip.. if it damn near breaks your neck when you stomp it then id say it has 500hp lol

you could get 1000 hp out of a 2.2 if you had enough money, anythings possible, as long as you have money, and about the turbo, my girlfriends car sounds exactly like it has a turbo too, and it doesnt, funny story: a guy at her work was asking her about her car and he said he noticed it had a turbo, he didnt believe her, i guess he thought since she was a girl she didnt know what she was talking about, anyways she made a bet with him that it didnt have a turbo, then she popped the hood, then won the money, it was only 5 bucks but still...
